Member Code of Conduct

Supporting a Professional, Respectful & Thriving Community

At BAPIA, we are proud to represent a diverse and creative community of professionals across the balloon, party and events industry. Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and business models - but we are united by a shared commitment to professionalism, respect, and raising standards within our industry.

This Code of Conduct sets out the expectations for all BAPIA members, partners, and representatives.

1. Respect for One Another

We expect all members to treat each other with kindness, professionalism, and respect at all times.

  • Value different experiences, opinions, and approaches
  • Communicate in a constructive and considerate manner
  • Avoid language or behaviour that may be perceived as aggressive, intimidating, or disrespectful

 2. Professional Communication

Healthy discussion and debate are a natural and important part of a growing industry. However, how we communicate matters.

  • Disagreements should remain respectful and professional
  • Avoid personal attacks, name-calling, or inflammatory language
  • Focus on sharing knowledge and experience rather than criticising individuals

 3. No Bullying or Harassment

BAPIA has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying or harassment.

This includes:

  • Repeated negative targeting of individuals
  • Public or private behaviour intended to intimidate, belittle, or undermine
  • Creating an environment where others feel uncomfortable or excluded

 4. Responsible Use of Social Media

Members represent not only their own businesses but also the wider industry.

  • Avoid publicly calling out, naming, or criticising other members in a way that could harm reputations
  • Do not use social media to escalate disputes or create division within the community
  • Where concerns arise, we encourage private, respectful communication or raising the issue with BAPIA

 5. Handling Disagreements

Differences of opinion - whether on pricing models, techniques, or business practices - are completely valid.

  • Members are entitled to their own professional views
  • Disagreements should not become personal
  • Where possible, resolve issues privately and constructively

 6. Professional Standards

Members representing BAPIA in any official capacity are expected to lead by example.

  • Demonstrate professionalism both publicly and privately
  • Uphold the values and reputation of BAPIA
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for others

7. Raising Concerns

If a member feels uncomfortable or believes this Code has been breached:

  • Concerns should be raised with BAPIA directly and confidentially
  • We will listen to all parties and assess situations fairly and impartially
  • Our aim is always to resolve issues constructively and respectfully

 8. Breaches of the Code

Where behaviour falls below the expected standards, BAPIA may take appropriate action, including:

  • Informal guidance or mediation
  • Formal warnings
  • Review of membership status

Any action taken will be proportionate, fair, and focused on maintaining a positive and professional community.

Our Commitment

BAPIA is committed to:

  • Supporting a safe and inclusive environment
  • Encouraging growth, learning, and collaboration
  • Championing professionalism across the industry

Together, we can continue to build a community that not only inspires creativity - but also sets the standard for how we support and respect one another.
